What causes catch basins to not drain properly?

Improper install leads to improper drainage. In the event that the catch basin isn&t installed properly, it can allow water to remain on the asphalt surface. The stream of water begins to enter from either outside the concrete or asphalt and seeps between the steel casing of the catch basin. Further, when the temperature starts to fall, the water that invades solidifies in the blocks of the basin and can cause catastrophic failure to the catch basin, in turn leading to costly repairs. Once the water is solidified, it pushes out the mortar allowing the casing to sink under the overwhelming burden from activity. The pressure from the movement may cause the grate to shift. Catastrophic failure may occur where a sinkhole is made.

The material used for sealcoating is typically made up of asphalt, water, and aggregate. It&s normally applied by a sprayer. If applied correctly, it strengthens the surface and adds a cleaner, more professional look to your parking lot or driveway.
